Strategy guide
Look for:
- Silver Ore: Hidden underground. You must use the Wishbone (dropped by Bonemass) to locate veins. Requires an Iron Pickaxe to mine.
- Obsidian: Found scattered on the surface of the mountain. Used for crafting high-tier arrows and tool shelf upgrades.
- Freeze Glands: Dropped by Drakes. Essential for crafting Frost Arrows, which are good against Sea Serpents and enemies in the next biome (Plains).
- Wolf Pelts & Trophies: Collected from Wolves. Vital for crafting the Wolf Armor set and the Wolf Armor Cape, which provide permanent frost resistance.
- Dragon Eggs: Heavy glowing eggs found in nests. You need 3 of these to summon [Moder](https://valheim-qwiki.notion.site/Moder-1783775f927a80b28293f673bc0d7c83) and they are usually found in the same mountain as the altar, so you don’t need to worry about transporting them from afar.
Combat:
- Freezing Debuff: Without frost resistance, you will take constant damage and lose health/stamina rapidly. Use Frost Resistance Mead until you can craft a Wolf Armor Cape or Lox Cape.
- Staggering: Wolves attack extremely fast. Use a shield with high block force (like the Silver Shield) to parry them, or they can quickly overwhelm your health bar.
- Weaknesses: Stone Golems are highly resistant to almost everything except Pickaxes. Alternatively, use a Mace to deal blunt damage. Drakes are airborne, making the Huntsman bow or Draugr Fang mandatory.
- Night Hazards: Avoid the mountains at night until you are highly geared. After dark you’ll run into Fenrings and 2 starred wolves.
