Strategy guide
Look for:
- Copper: Look for shiny golden boulders throughout the forest. If you are skilled at dodging, you can bait Trolls to mine copper for you and bypass the need for a Bronze pickaxe early on.
- Tin: Look for small "shinier" rocks along the coastlines and riverbanks.
- Surtling Cores: found in Burial Chambers, stone structures guarded by skeletons. Needed to build the Smelter and Charcoal Kiln.
- Carrot Seeds: Pick the small white flowers to start your first farm using a Cultivator.
- [Haldor](https://valheim-qwiki.notion.site/Haldor-1a43775f927a80eda6c8cc72f6dc10fe) the Trader: Look for a money bag icon on your map. He spawns in the Black Forest and sells the Megingjord (increases carry weight) and the Dverger Circlet (a head-mounted light for dungeons).
Combat:
Cart: with bronze nails you can craft a Cart to transport ore back to your base.
Armor: advanced players often prefer the Troll Set and skip the Bronze Armor set entirely to avoid grinding Copper and Tin. The Troll Set has lower armor but provides the Sneak set bonus and has no movement speed reduction, allowing you to rely on dodging and parrying with a Bronze buckler. This way you can save Bronze for essential tools like the Axe, Pickaxe, and Cultivator, and transition more quickly to the Swamp biome to begin mining Iron.
